AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 2025-021 SETTING COMPENSATION FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS AND FURTHER CONTINUING THE OPTION OF OBTAINING FAMILY VISION, DENTAL INSURANCE, AND LIFE INSURANCE FRINGE BENEFITS

WHEREAS, the Council Members of the City are accumulating new and additional requirements as to time and effort; and,
WHEREAS, they should be compensated for their time and effort; and,
WHEREAS, Council's annual salary has not been adjusted for over eight (8) years; and,
WHEREAS, Council has been previously afforded the opportunity to obtain Family Vision, Dental Insurance, and Life Insurance fringe benefits and now wishes to pass legislation continuing said coverage as fringe benefits.
WHEREAS, The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System recently amended the minimum earnable salary requirements for calendar years 2026 through 2029 which were not previously available when Ordinance Number 2025-021 was debated and approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
Section 1: That effective January 1, 2026, members of Council shall be compensated at the rate of $770.77 per month and thereafter, said compensation shall be increased 5.00% each year through December 31, 2029, to receive minimum service credit of one year through OPERS.
Section 2: That members of Council shall continue to have Family Vision, Dental Insurance coverage, and a life insurance benefit in the amount of one (1) times his/her salary.
Section 3: That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto which are made a part hereof, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
