Title
AN ORDINANCE DEFINING AND ESTABLISHING MEMBERS OF THE CLASSIFIED AND UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY
Body
WHEREAS, upon attaining city status, the Groveport Charter mandates that the City establish and define a classified and unclassified service for all Groveport employees to ensure the implementation of civil service requirements with respect to the City's employment practices and procedures.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
 
 
 
 
Section 1:  That the following positions shall be members of the unclassified service for the City of Groveport: Administrator, Director of Law, Finance Director, Clerk of Council, Clerk of Courts, Chief Building Official, Parks & Recreation Director, Community Affairs Director, Public Works Superintendent, Director of Golf, Economic Development Director, Director of Facilities Management and all part-time and seasonal employees.
 
Section 2:  That all other employees of the City of Groveport shall be members of the classified service, and, therefore, shall be governed by Article VIII, Section 8.01(B) and (C) of the Groveport Charter.
 
Section 3:  That this Ordinance be deemed an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the health, safety and general welfare of the community to the extent that Groveport has achieved city status under the general laws of Ohio and this legislation must be enacted in a timely manner so that the City of Groveport can be in compliance with its Charter with respect to its employment practices and procedures; WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
