Title

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATOR TO SOLICIT BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING FACILITY PRICING, SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION SERVICES WITH THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE AND RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY

Body

WHEREAS, the City's current contract for Solid Waste Collection Services terminates December 31, 2020, unless the City chooses to exercise a renewal option with respect to said contract; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City has the opportunity to take part in the bidding process with a consortium of local communities for not only solid waste facility pricing and collection services but recycling facility pricing and collection services as well.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:

 

Section 1:  That the Administrator is hereby authorized to solicit bids and to enter into a contract for solid waste and recycling facility pricing and solid waste and recycling collection services with the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.

 

Section 2:  That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto which are made a part hereof this Ordinance is hereby declared an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the health, safety, and general welfare of the community to the extent that this legislation must be enacted in a timely fashion so that the City has the ability to take part in the bidding process with a consortium of local communities which may enable the City to obtain solid waste collection and recycling services at a more favorable cost to the residents of Groveport; WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force upon passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
