Title

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH MARK MCDONOUGH TO SERVE AS CHIEF OF POLICE FOR THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Groveport Charter, Article VII Section 7.04 establishes the employment position of Chief of Police; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mark McDonough has the necessary qualifications and experience to serve as Groveport's Chief of Police; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council are desirous of entering into an employment agreement with Mark McDonough, pursuant to the attached Exhibit A; and,

 

WHEREAS, Article III, Section 3.01 (A) (4) empowers Council to authorize the stated employment agreement.

 

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:

 

Section 1:  That the Administrator is hereby authorized to execute the stated employment agreement, a copy of which is attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A, with Mark McDonough to serve as Chief of Police.

Section 2That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto which are made a part hereof, this Ordinance is hereby declared an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the health, safety, and general welfare of the community as this ordinance must be enacted in a timely fashion so that the City can immediately have a new Chief of Police in place; Wherefore, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force upon passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
