Title
A RESOLUTION BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENT INNOVATION FUND AND ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE OTHER CO-APPLICANTS, AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Groveport, jointly with the Village of Obetz and the City of Columbus wishes to study the feasibility and possible route of a fiber optic system in the Rickenbacker area; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Groveport and the other co-applicants have signed or intend to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to that end; and
 
WHEREAS, Funds for such feasibility routing studies are available from the Local Government Innovation Fund; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Groveport and the co-applicants have jointly agreed in principal to examine feasibility and routing of a fiber optic system for the Rickenbacker area.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
 
Section 1:  That the City Administrator is hereby authorized to apply for a grant from the Local Government Innovation Fund for a feasibility and routing study for a fiber optic system, and further authorized to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with co-applicants to that end.
 
Section 2:  That this Resolution be deemed an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the health, safety and general welfare of the community to the extent that this legislation must be enacted in a timely manner arising from the imminent filing deadline for applications. WHEREFORE, this Resolution shall take effect upon its passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
