AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO A RETIREMENT/SEPARATION AGREEMENT WITH CASEY ADAMS, AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Chief Adams has indicated his intention of retiring at the end of 2026; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor is desirous of beginning a search for his replacement as soon as possible to mitigate any potential transition issues and, ultimately have a new Chief in place in the early part of 2026; and,
WHEREAS, Council is in agreement with the Mayor as to immediately initiating a search for Chief Adams' replacement and having a new Chief in place in the early part of 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
Section 1: That the Administrator is hereby authorized to enter into a retirement/separation agreement with Casey Adams to facilitate the selection of his replacement as soon as practicable.
Section 2: That this Ordinance shall be deemed as an emergency measure immediately necessary for to preserve the health, safety, and general welfare of the community as said legislation must be enacted in a timely manner to enable the City to have a new Police Chief in office in the early part of 2026; WHEREFORE, this legislation shall take effect immediately upon its passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
