AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATOR TO CREATE THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PURSUANT TO GROVEPORT CITY CHARTER SECTION 7.05 AND TO FURTHER ADD THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION TO SAID NEWLY CREATED DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, it has been determined that creating the Department of Transportation is necessary and appropriate; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Groveport City Charter, Section 7.05, Council may create administrative departments and provide for the organization and powers, duties and functions thereof; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3.01 (A)(4) of the Groveport City Charter, Council can establish or authorize the number of employees in the various offices, departments, divisions, bureaus, boards, and commissions of the Municipality; and,
WHEREAS, due to the addition of the stated department, it will be necessary to establish the authorized strength for the Department of Transportation by adding the position of Director of Transportation, moving the Senior Transportation Coordinator and Senior Transportation Drivers positions from the Parks & Recreation Department to the Department of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
Section 1: That there is hereby created a Department of Transportation.
Section 2: That there is hereby added the position of Director of Transportation in the Department of Transportation and in addition thereto, the positions of Senior Transportation Coordinator and Senior Transportation Drivers are hereby moved to the Department of Transportation.
Section 3: That the authorized strength of staff for the Department of Transportation shall include the position of Director of Transportation, Senior Transportation Coordinator and Senior Transportation Drivers .
Section 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
