AN ORDINANCE SETTING COMPENSATION FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE OPTION OF OBTAINING FAMILY VISION AND DENTAL INSURANCE COVERAGE AND THE CONTINUATION OF A LIFE INSURANCE FRINGE BENEFIT

WHEREAS, the Council Members of the City are accumulating new and additional requirements as to time and effort; and,
WHEREAS, they should be compensated for their time and effort; and,
WHEREAS, Council's annual salary has not been adjusted for over twenty-five (25) years; and,
WHEREAS, Council has been previously afforded the opportunity to obtain Family Vision and Dental Insurance coverage administratively and now wishes to pass legislation authorizing said coverage, as well as the continuation of a life insurance benefit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
Section 1: That members of Council shall be compensated at the rate of Six Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($6,000.00) per year, effective January 1, 2018.
Section 2: That members of Council shall have Family Vision and Dental Insurance coverage.
Section 3: That members of Council shall have a life insurance benefit in the amount of one (1) times his/her salary.
Section 4: That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto which are made a part hereof, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
