AN ORDINANCE SETTING COMPENSATION FOR THE MAYOR MODIFYING THE MAYOR'S CURRENT HEALTH CARE INSURANCE COVERAGE TO MIRROR THAT OF THE CITY EMPLOYEES' COVERAGE, AND AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUATION OF THE MAYOR'S FAMILY VISION AND DENTAL INSURANCE COVERAGE AND LIFE INSURANCE BENEFIT

WHEREAS, the Mayor has accumulated additional duties and further requirements as to time and effort; and,
WHEREAS, the person holding the office of mayor should be compensated for his/her time and effort; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor's compensation has not been adjusted for over twenty-five (25) years; and,
WHEREAS, it is Council's desire that the Mayor's current health care insurance coverage, previously authorized by Council, be modified to always reflect the coverage offered to all full-time City employees; and,
WHEREAS, Council wishes to authorize the continuation of the Mayor's Family Vision and Dental Insurance coverage and life insurance benefit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:
Section 1: That the Mayor shall be compensated at the rate of Twenty Six Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($26,000.00) per year, effective January 1, 2018.
Section 2: That the Mayor's current health care insurance coverage be modified to always reflect the coverage offered to all full-time City employees, effective January 1, 2018.
Section 3: That Council further authorizes the continuation of the Mayor's Family Vision and Dental Insurance coverage and life insurance benefit of one (1) time his/her annual salary.
Section 4: That for the reasons stated in the preamble hereto which are made a part hereof, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
