Title

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATOR TO ADD AND/OR ABOLISH CERTAIN POSITIONS IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT IN THE CITY OF GROVEPORT AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY

Body

WHEREAS, it has been determined necessary to add and/or abolish certain positions in the Public Works Department to address staffing needs in said department; and,

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3.01 (A)(4) of the Groveport City Charter, Council can establish or authorize the number of employees in the various offices, departments, divisions, bureaus, boards, and commissions of the Municipality.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:

 

Section 1 That the Administrator is hereby authorized to abolish the Foreman position in the Public Works Department, and add the positions of Maintenance Superintendent -Street/Storm and Utilities Superintendent - Water/Sewer in the Public Works Department.

 

Section 2:  That the authorized strength of staff for the Departments as set forth in Section 1 above shall be modified accordingly to reflect the change in staffing levels as a result of the duly authorized actions of the Administrator.

 

Section 3:  That this Ordinance is hereby deemed an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the health, safety, and general welfare of the community to the extent this legislation must be enacted in a timely manner to address staffing needs in said department; WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
