Title

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT GRANTS FROM THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRST AID TRAUMA PACKS, BALLISTIC SHIELDS, AND EMERGENCY RADIO RELATED EQUIPMENT, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE ANY AGREEMENTS NECESSARY TO RECEIVE SAID GRANT FUNDING, AND THE DECLARATION OF AN EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Council has deemed it necessary to authorize the City Administrator and the Chief of Police to apply for and accept grants from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Office of Criminal Justice for the acquisition of first aid trauma packs, ballistic shields, and emergency radio related equipment for the Police Department

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GROVEPORT, FRANKLIN COUNTY, OHIO, A MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS CONCURRING:

 

Section 1: That the Mayor and Chief of Police are hereby authorized to apply for and accept grants from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Office of Criminal Justice for the acquisition of first aid trauma packs, ballistic shields, and emergency radio related equipment for the Groveport Police Department.

 

Section 2:  That the Administrator is further authorized to execute any agreements necessary to receive said grant funding.

 

Section 3:  That this Ordinance shall be deemed an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the health, safety, and general welfare of the community as this legislation must be enacted in a timely manner so that the Police Department can obtain the stated equipment and services as soon as possible; WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after passage by Council and signature of the Mayor.
